Weekly Advanced Homeschool Art Course
Monday afternoons from 1p.m. - 2p.m.

This advanced art class is for mature 7th-12th graders who have a serious interest in art. Students are expected to maintain their supplies, experiment with techniques, and build technical skills while communicating with one another professionally. We will delve into a variety of media techniques with optional digital art integration, and we will have opportunities for the group to attend art-related field trips and participate in an art show.
This class will follow the fine arts standards of Oklahoma for high school and will include the following topics of study:

issues of copyright

art history and analysis

creative, meaningful choices

self expression and personal style

studio etiquette

artistic process (research, experimentation, skill-building, reflection, revision, presentation)

participating in critiques

writing an artist’s statement

creating a portfolio

Drawing pencil set with eraser and blending stub

September–Drawing from life with pencil and colored pencil, measuring proportions, creating emphasis and unity in a composition, details, making unique choices, building a portfolio website

*Field trips are tentative and depend on scheduling with the venues. They are optional and separate from the class. I will try to schedule these on Friday afternoons when possible.
